Introduction to Clothing Alterations

Over the past 3.5 years, I've taught more than 700 students through my in-person sewing classes, helping beginners gain the confidence to repair, alter and make the most of the clothes they already own.

As a qualified Fashion Designer with industry experience, I've shown hundreds of students that clothing alterations don't have to be intimidating. This online course follows the same practical, step-by-step approach I use in the classroom, making essential alteration and mending skills accessible to everyone.

Whether you want to shorten a hem, repair a favourite garment or simply make your clothes fit better, this course will give you the confidence to tackle everyday alterations and extend the life of your wardrobe.

What You'll Learn

Module 1: Getting Started

Build a solid foundation by learning the essential tools, how to take accurate measurements, and how to assess a garment before making any alterations.

Module 2: Professional Hems

Master the most useful hemming techniques for everyday clothing, including double-turn hems, blind hems, rolled hems and using bias binding for a professional finish.

Module 3: Repairs & Mending

Learn simple but effective techniques to repair tears, reinforce weak seams and mend everyday wear and tear, helping you keep your favourite garments in use for longer.
