Join our hands-on quilting workshop and learn how to make your very own baby quilt from start to finish. This course is designed especially for complete beginners to quilting – all you need is confidence using your sewing machine. The course will be taught by Joan who is a quilting extraordinaire. The course will run in Deerpark Community Hub, Carlanstown.
Course Overview
Over two days you’ll build your skills step by step:

Begin piecing your quilt top
In between the next workshop you will have to finish assembling or near finish the quilt so on the second day we can focus on the finishing techniques which are just as important.
Week 2

Add wadding and backing

Learn how to bind your quilt

Finish with hand-sewn binding techniques

Accurate cutting and layout techniques
How to align and sew fabric pieces
Pressing for neat, flat seams
Adding wadding and backing fabric
Binding and hand-finishing for a polished result

Please note: If you don’t already have these tools, factor in the cost of purchasing them when enrolling.
This course is a perfect introduction to quilting, combining machine sewing with simple hand-finishing techniques to give you a complete foundational skillset. You'll leave with a beautiful handmade baby quilt and the confidence to start more projects on your own!
